IP Lookups

There are hundreds of sites that provide free services that has to do with IP identification and tracing. In recent years, this service has advanced even further and now geographical associates an IP to its exact location.

No longer can people hide behind their IP address because it’s become so much more easier to trace someone to their exact location. Some take it further and gives details of street names, and even the picture of the house or company.

We’ve compiled a list of some freely available services you can check:

  1. ARIN – ARIN’s WHOIS service provides a mechanism for finding contact and registration information for resources registered with ARIN. ARIN’s database contains IP addresses, autonomous system [AS] numbers, organizations or customers that are associated with these resources, and related Points of Contact.
  2. IP-LOOKUP.NET – Find information about your current IP address or any other IP address. It supports both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.
  3. IP-ADDRESS.COM – Uses Google Maps to pinpoint your location.
  4. DOMAINTOOLS.COM – Lots of tools and services free and some paid. For example, you can do a reverse lookup on an IP to find out how many websites it is running. Also get detailed whois information about a domain name.
  5. GEOBYTES.COM – Probably the best one out there. Gives you detailed information such as longitude/latitude, City, Population, nearby cities, map.

You can also find a good amount of commercial services that provide alot more details about an IP address and it’s usage.

    Nice list I also use http://ip-address-lookup-v4.com/ which is similar to ip-lookup.net but their RIPE database appears to be more up to date for certain queries (it`s more specialized in IPV4 compared to ip-lookup.net which covers both
