		<description>you&#039;re example at first is incomplete.  Using split -l means the output will be numbered. Not as indicated -xaa xab, but 1`2 `3  ....  To make it useful a better solution would be do a : split -l largelog xa. Which would give xa1 xa2 xa3  etc
