isn't it better to use "screen" for such purposes? you can have multiple screens with environments for each of the tasks and you can control the output of all of them

First of all KDE is a HOG - can't hide it . 90 % of plasma widgets are crap! there is a poor chice of native qt 4 apps. There is a 100 mb of ram usage at sturtup between mint 8 - Gnome- and kubuntu 9.10, which devours about 250 mb . I recon that kubuntu developers are lazy - with 9.10 thay even didn't bother to change wallpaper, 9.04 broken wifi supportfor intel cards (was it intel??) - halfbaked anyway.
Most of the time thay spand whimpering that Canonical treats them as second class citizens. :D
Nonetheless KDE is awsame/sublime and 4.4 is truely a killer :D -amazing.

<a href="#comment-202" rel="nofollow">@KenP </a>

You know, when I first started using Gnome...I was like OK it's not bad, I can get around to finding and doing things that I need to do. BUT when I switched later on to KDE, I couldn't believe I hadn't tried it yet. First off, the look, feel and variety of KDE specific apps were numerous and it just felt good using it. It felt more natural for arguments sake.

I really think KDE community need to do more to market itself to be the default window manager for most popular distributions.

if you like KDE, as many do, may i suggest a KDE-specific distro such as Mepis or Sidux? Many KDE lovers feel that Kubuntu doesn't come close to what KDE can be, which is very unfortunate.

FYI: You might want to use ' bc -l ' for anything with decimals. I have expericances in the past where bc will just round the number.
